Day 4: Scenic Cruising in Tracy Arm Fjord & Juneau, AK

From July 4th to July 11th we cruised on the Sapphire Princess from Seattle, WA to Victoria, BC and Skagway, Ketchikan and Juneau, Alaska with Dad, Cory, Patty and Carly. Here are some snippets of our journey.

Day 4: Scening Cruising in Tracy Arm Fjord and a stop in Juneau, AK might have been my favorite day of the trip!

We swept open our cabin curtains at 6:30 AM to take in the majestic and breath-taking views of the scenic cruise through Tracy Arm Fjord not far from Juneau, Alaska. Icebergs, misty mountain scenes, two glaciers and the beautiful aqua waters were so lovely. Dave and I sat for the longest time relaxing on the balcony just watching the scenery pass by. Aden joined us periodically, but the scant presence of wildlife left him wanting, so needless to say, this part of the trip was not Aden's favorite...

Dad and Patty were enjoying their balcony as well...

After departing the fjord, we entered the port of Juneau, Alaska.

Planning our trip had involved all of us choosing our own shore excursions. This day, Dad, Patty, Cory and Carly visited the Mendenhall Glacier and a whale sighting trip while Aden and I visited this dog sled summer camp. Aden had been looking forward to this for some time. We were able to ride in a cart pulled by the team of dogs, visit with puppies (sled dogs-to-be), and learn all about the Iditarod.

Aden LOVED his time with the dogs and is particularly proud of this picture of him with lead dogs, Tonga and Cedar.
Aden was helped the presenter by agreeing to dress up in an Iditarod racer's gear. He thought this was pretty cool!

The puppies were so much fun!

I feel a bit silly for admitting that I've never used our cameras for video clips... At the urging of our guide, I did this time... Here's a clip of our dog sled ride... You'll be seeing more of these in the future. :)

When we returned to the downtown area, Dave and Aden rode up the Mount Roberts Tramway to get a view of the city and our ship from the mountain top.

Downtown Juneau had many sights and shops to peruse.

My favorite sign of the whole trip: The Twisted Fish Company - love the name, the graphics, the colors! (And the salmon escalator on the side of the building was pretty cool too - below)
We returned to the ship later in the day and watched the sun set as we prepared to leave from Juneau. So beautiful!

Bye, Juneau! What a great day.
