Animal Safari from Home

It is the middle of a fairly typical Minnesota winter here. That means we spend quite a bit of time indoors. This afternoon Aden and I went to the park for a winter picnic, walk and brief play-time, but it is rather cold for extended periods outdoors.

Needless to say, our animal interests are not as easily satisfied this time of year... Until now that is... We have discovered internet web cams around the world!!

We've recently become captivated by Lily the bear, a three year old resident of Ely, MN who lives in a den while awaiting the arrival of cubs. A web cam has been installed so the general public can partake in the excitement. (I've added links to all these sites in the left menu...)
We are also watching Pheobe, a hummingbird from California. She is a very busy mom-to-be, and we can't wait to see what baby hummingbirds look like. The two eggs in her nest are due to hatch any day now.
And, still stuck indoors... We found this South African cam featuring a watering hole. This morning Aden had a grand time identifying gazelles and differentiating between the males and females. The times zones are so different that it can be difficult to catch them during the day, but even the sounds are fun to hear...
