Books!

It was a very rainy Memorial Day weekend last week, so we skipped our outdoor plans and filled the weekend with BOOKS!

One of my favorite places on the Internet is Goodreads.com, a place for logging and tracking one's reads as well as quotes, book ratings, author news, reader reviews and friends' reads.  I have joined a few groups there, one of them called "52 Books Around the World."

The concept of "52 Books Around the World" is for each member to select and read 52 books set in 52 countries.   So far, I have read 15 of my 52 books.  They have been set in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Hungary, England, South Africa, Nigeria, Israel, Pakistan, the Balkans, Japan, Korea, Costa Rica, and Guatemala.

Some of these books are written by Americans who at one time immigrated from the countries they wrote about.  Many of the books are translated from another language.  Some of the books are renowned literature by native authors who have never been to the United States at all.

It is so exciting to travel the world from the ease, safety, and comfort of my very own couch!
