Today was our follow-up appointment at Children's with Dr. Kubic, the Pulmonary Physician. Chest x-rays and respiratory testing were completed, and we received the results right away. Dr. Kubic is a very enthusiastic, communicative and thorough doctor, so we received lots of information. Basically he confirmed again that Aden was unlucky to have become so sick, and that the very course of Aden's illness has killed other children and left others on ventilators and heart/breathing machines for lengthy periods of time. We are so lucky that Aden has recovered relatively quickly.
Aden's chest x-rays looked great today! And, Dr. Kubic was child-like in his excitement about the results of the respiratory tests and Aden regaining all the weight he lost. Because of the severity of the illness, Aden's lung capacity was not expected to be perfect today... It usually takes 6-12 months before it is perfect again, but Aden's was not only normal but particularly great for his age! Dr. Kubic was in awe of the awesome healing, and Aden's overall strength and health. The only issue that remains is a normal one, and that is the slight aggravation in the airways, which will continue for a bit but overall has no consequence right now. The periodic headaches and fatigue are also normal and can last up to six months this doctor said. All of this was great, great news!
It seems like there was more, but I'm feeling pretty blank. We are just so very happy to have Aden healthy and we stopped by for a gelato on the way home to celebrate!
