Aden's Lungs

For anyone who thought this was as interesting as I did.... Below are images taken from the camera the surgeon used in Aden's chest cavity. They are taken in exactly the same spot - before the fluid and gunk were removed and after.

All the yellow in the top image is the stuff that needed to come out. In the bottom image, they still had a little work to do along the right side of the picture.

The circled area in the bottom image, top right area, is the sickest part of Aden's lung. In that purple area, the surgeon explained that a small part of the lung has died. It should not be that color, and it indicates the severity of illness there. But, this part will heal much like any other injury and will not cause long-lasting problems for Aden.

No wonder Aden was so sick and felt so miserable...

I've seen pix of healthy lungs and could never have imagined the magnitude of the infection that was in Aden's lungs.

You (we) are so fortunate to have a children's hospital in your area w/ qualified doctors proficient in dealing with a case of this gravity.

Isn't it amazing that they can take such clear pictures within the body.
